While events in their normal format are still not able to happen, NYCxDESIGN has been exploring how our community can safely experience design both virtually and through live offerings. We have been crafting opportunities for design content to be consumed in-person, but at one’s leisure, which allows for self-guided exploration and safe distancing.
There are many design-minded spaces throughout NYC that are now open – showrooms, retail shops, cultural institutions, galleries, and more. We want to help in drive customers to these businesses, while also spreading a creative message of hope for our city through design. Our Ode to NYC campaign, debuting this October, aims to do just that.
Design has the power to re-energize and re-build our city (and our world). There are new opportunities for the public to realize the importance and impact of design. The use of outdoor public space, how we share places of work and entertainment, necessary safety products…all of these challenges become opportunities for designers and creatives to influence the future. We have the best place to do that. With the largest creative community, New York City is prime to lead the world’s response to reopening.
