“Right now I am not very excited for in-person, physical exhibitions. There is so much complexity with how to visit, with human interaction, that I believe it negatively impacts experiencing the work, and thus the takeaway. For me, now is a time for re-energy, regrowth and looking at life consideration; ensuring what I do is equitable, sustainable and innovative. As a curator I am ever inspired by the work I am seeing and quarantine/aka pandemic lockdown has been no different, but now I am much more interested in the person behind the work than the work itself.
Our role as designers is to solve problems and bring beauty to the lived world. I am re-thinking how I work, what I want to put into the world, whom I'm working with and where my efforts should be going. I am much more driven by supporting my community (womxn in design, Black womxn in the arts and more), human interaction and sharing of true kindness. I am working on finding ways to take these needed principles and inject them into my business, the design world I inhabit and most importantly the relationships I have.
Connection is Queen. Now is the time to reach out when you need support, to connect creatively when you can, and to find new ways of inspiring people w/o human touch. Kindness and Equality is necessary.”
