56TH STUDIO is a multidisciplinary design studio that works graphically three dimensional. We provide services for object design and prop styling that can be applied into various projects, from visual identity, visual merchandising, branding, set for photography, animation, interior, exterior or any space related project.
In our studio, form follows story. Our aim is to explore objects that are not only functional but also communicative. Trying our best to combine fashion, furniture, graphic and textile altogether, we enjoy rummaging through a junkyard or a flea market to find weird and wonderful forms or underrated patterns.
Stylewise, we are luxe-personified yet kitschy, neo-ethnic, eclectically bold and youthful. 56thStudio proudly embraces pop and mainstream culture and often hijacks existing forms and makes a sarcastic commentary piece out of it.
Cheap Ass Elites
Cheap Ass Elites is a furniture series that tell a story about Political Turmoil and Class Strata in Thai Society. The object is also a critic on what is considered “high” and “low” in both sociological aspect and design. Combining mass-produced household objects and plastic items with rich elements, the collection sarcastically illustrates and questions what society’s indoctrination is really built on.
For this project, Chair is a perfect object in aspects of both function and communication. The object itself represents different hierarchies and tastes clearly in its usage and aesthetic. Therefore, the designs are a blunt and sarcastic juxtaposition between rich or upper-class elements such as the louis armchair, ottoman chair, or Victorian Style, with low-taste elements such as mass-produced plastic appliances, common household items, working class objects or even military weapon containers. the clash of classes is simply shown, yet portrays the idealistic society where the rich and the poor, the low and the high, the upper class and the lower class are merged.
